On March 20, the International Association of Francophone Mayors honors the positive impact of diasporas on our cities

On the occasion of the International Day of La Francophonie on March 20, the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) will organize an event entitled "Ça raconte des mondes - Les diasporas, actrices d'une Francophonie plurielle". A moment of exchange and testimony on the positive impact of diasporas on the economy and urban identities of today and tomorrow.

At a time when the whole world will be celebrating the Francophone values of solidarity and living together, and when diasporas play a decisive role in strengthening the links between here and elsewhere, the AIMF will bring together at 3:30 p.m. some one hundred participants for a meeting with inspiring personalities on the dynamics of cities/diasporas.AIMF will gather around 100 participants at 3:30 pm for a meeting with inspiring personalities, which will address the dynamics of cities and diasporas. The program, developed in conjunction with associations involved in the subject of diasporas, will be structured around two round tables where eight speakers will share their vision and experience on how diasporas contribute to the economic development of territories and the construction of multicultural cities. Eric Lejoindre, Mayor of the 18th arrondissement of Paris,Roger Mbassa Ndine (photo), Mayor of Douala in Cameroon, Sakin M'sa, fashion designer, and Haikel Drine, Founder of Afrikanda, are among the expected speakers.

The positive impact of diasporas on economic growth and our urban identities

Diasporas have their own activity, fully integrated into local economic life, and which opens new ways to create economic links with their city of origin: between Africa and Europe, financial flows linked to diasporas represent several tens of billions of euros per year. In addition to the economic aspect, diasporas nourish the cultural construction of cities, now bearers of a new plural identity, and symbols in themselves of our globalization.

"It tells worlds" intends to bring another look, to be the narration of life stories and inspiring stories of diasporas and to prove by example their positive impact on the economy, urban identities and more broadly the living together.
