Festival of French-speaking students from Central and Eastern Europe

The AUF Central and Eastern Europe with the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest co-organize on July 11 - 15, 2022 in Bucharest, Romania, the IXth edition of the Regional Festival of the French-speaking students of the AUF member universities in Central and Eastern Europe.

Concept:

Organized on the occasion of theEuropean Year of Youth - 2022, the Regional Festival of Francophone Students will bring together for one week young Francophones from all over the Central and Eastern European region. In addition, the Festival aims to be a space for exchange and sharing between students in a friendly Francophone atmosphere. The diversity of workshops offered to the participants will consolidate these exchanges: from workshops on soft skills (writing press articles and creating audio podcasts) to artistic workshops, such as dance, painting/photography, music and sports. A gala evening and awards ceremony for the best talents and the best student contributions will crown the 5-day festival dedicated to the French-speaking youth of Central and Eastern Europe.

Application requirements :

  • Be enrolled at the bachelor or master level in an AUF member institution in CEE (list of members in ECO)
  • Have a good level of written and spoken French
  • Be over 18 years old on May 30, 2022
  • Not to have participated in previous editions of the festival
  • Submit your application online on https://formulaires.auf.org/ with all the requested attachments (CV, letter of motivation, certificate of registration in the university of origin, transcript of records).

N.B. The certificates of registration in the university of origin must be in French or translated into French (without the need for an authorized translation or legalized by a notary).

Selection criteria:

The AUF selection committee will analyze all applications received and rank them according to the following criteria:

  • academic achievement (transcript)
  • Degree of motivation of the student (the letter of motivation)
  • the degree of involvement/participation of the student in extracurricular activities.

N.B. Only one applicant per member institution will be selected.

Modalities of support for the participants:

The selected participants will benefit from a financial support from the organizers (transportation, insurance, accommodation, catering).

All other expenses are the responsibility of the participants (e.g. visa, PCR test).

Short history of the festival :

  • The 1st edition, organized in 2012, had the theme "I have an appointment with the French language in Bucharest...on the way to the Quebec Forum", being one of the events registered in the margin of the First World Forum of the French Language.
  • The 2nd edition was built around the theme "Crossroads of Francophone cultures".
  • The 2014 edition was part of a series of events around the 20th anniversary of the Central and Eastern Europe Office and had as its theme "20 years - a francophonie of my age".
  • The 2015 edition took place under the auspices of "Cluj - European Youth Capital" and 60th anniversary since Romania joined the United Nations and had the theme "The colors of youth."
  • During the 2016 edition, "Together", we experienced solidarity in diversity.
  • The theme of the 2017 edition was "Creative Francophonie", having as a setting the city of Zagreb, Croatia.
  • The 7th edition, "Diverse together" was organized in Yerevan, Armenia, on the sidelines of the 2018 Francophonie Summit.
  • The 8th edition was hosted by the city of Plovdiv (Bulgaria), European Capital of Culture in 2019, under the theme "Creative together"
