The first leaders of the student club for innovation and development (CEID) were in front of the press in the afternoon of Friday, February 19, 2021 in Ouagadougou. Objective, talk about the holding of the 3rd edition of the University and School Fair of Ouagadougou (FUSO) to be held from 7 to 10 April 2021. It is placed under the theme: "Technological innovations and entrepreneurship: what opportunities for young people? ».

To give a boost to young people through the establishment of a framework of expression for the development of their potential for creativity and innovation. This is the mission that the Student Club for Innovation and Sustainable Development (CEID) has set itself through the implementation of the University and School Fair of Ouagadougou (FUSO). A fair created since 2018 and whose 3rd edition will be held from 7 to 10 April 2021 at the University Joseph Ki-Zerbo.

Placed under the theme "Technological innovations and entrepreneurship: what opportunities for young people", this 3rd edition will be attended by about thirty exhibitors mainly young inventors. In addition to these exhibitors, around 2,000 professional visitors are also expected during these 96 hours, in strict compliance with the barrier measures against Covid-19.

According to the coordinator of the CEID, Bernabé Gansonré, all young inventors and developers of start-ups will exhibit free of charge and the first 10 start-ups will benefit from an incubation thanks to a partnership with the Burkinabe Fund for Economic and Social Development (FBDES). That is why he took the opportunity to invite pupils and students, business and school leaders to take ownership of this project, which will enable them to put their creative potential into orbit.

Several activities are planned

During this edition, several activities are planned. These include exhibitions for companies, universities and institutions, trainings and panels as well as a B to B meeting with future entrepreneurs. According to the coordinator of the CEID, the different trainings will be given by professionals in the field and will consist of equipping young people with the necessary knowledge in digital marketing, poultry farming, solar installations, ICT and business management to enable them to embrace the entrepreneurial environment.

Competition for the best entrepreneurs

Regarding the innovations planned for this edition, Bernabé Gansonré said that there are competitions for the best entrepreneurs. These include the competition for the best young digital entrepreneur, the best young student entrepreneur and the best young inventor or developer of a start-up. Competitions that will be held under the supervision of a jury chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Sawadogo, a teacher-researcher at the University Joseph Ki-Zerbo, suggested the coordinator of the CEID.

The university and school fair in Ouagadougou is a forum that, according to the CEID's first leader, will allow young people to believe in their capacity for creativity, to invest in the creation of promising projects, to create jobs and to ensure their financial and social autonomy. That is why, before closing, the coordinator wished the support of state and financial institutions, incubators and all the good will to make this project a success.
