Côte d'Ivoire/ Young people in Sépikaha sensitized to drugs, illegal gold panning and road incivism
On Friday, April 12, 2024, Eugène Coffy, Chief Warrant Officer of the Niakara national gendarmerie brigade, went to meet young people in his district to raise awareness against drugs, illicit gold panning and road incivism.
For Chief Warrant Officer Eugène Coffy, this initiative is part of the "Police de proximité" (community policing) program. An operational policy supported by the Gendarmerie Nationale's top hierarchy, it focuses on prevention through communication to bring about a change in behavior.
The president of the Sépikaha youth group, Moussa Coulibaly, welcomed this action by the Niakara national gendarmerie brigade. He hoped they would multiply this kind of initiative to bring the local youth back on the right track.
