France/PARIS: Local actors at the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales, November 22, 23 and 24

Local actors will meet on November 22, 23 and 24 in Paris at the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales (SMCL). During this edition, the show will continue its action with the territories in the face of the challenges of the crises and the imperatives of transformation with which cities, inter-municipalities, departments and regions are confronted daily.

The health crisis has profoundly illustrated the capacity to react, the agility in the field and the proximity support that characterize local action. All public policies today fully engage the necessary territorial relays, in a dynamic dialogue with mayors, elected officials and their operational teams. In this context, the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales 2022 represents, after two years of a sharp slowdown in investments, a major opportunity to meet with all territorial leaders to accelerate the implementation of various projects at the local level.

After the success of a 2021 edition that highlighted sustainable developments to embrace local transition dynamics, the SMCL proposes to articulate in 2022 the short and the long term, with immediate and concrete issues to which territorial decision-makers must respond.

A 2022 edition imagined in response to the collective challenges of today and tomorrow

Already in the front line of health crisis management, local authorities are called upon to take up a wide range of issues to address the challenges of today and tomorrow.They are now faced with a wide range of issues to successfully carry out the ecological, energy, social and societal transition at the local level. In order to provide elected officials and their teams with the tools they need to transform their territories, new topics will be introduced at SMCL this year. Energy (with a focus on green hydrogen), Europe, food resilience, the circular economy and sobriety, or the coastline, are all part of the 2022 program to highlight innovative solutions for territories.

As in the previous edition, SMCL 2022 will be divided into 9 exhibition sectors (Health, Social, Children & Living Together; Culture, Sports & Events; Transport & Mobility ; Construction & Planning; Energy & Climate; Environment & Living Environment; Security, Prevention & Protection; Tech & Digital Transformation, and Territorial Development & Attractiveness).

Each of these exhibition sectors will bring together activities and professions related to the contemporary challenges faced by territorial players. Among the sectors of activity present at the 2022 exhibition, visitors will be able to find the social and solidarity economy, renewable and decarbonated energies, recycling, recovery and reuse, or connected services and mobility (non-exhaustive list).

HERE, dialogue and cooperation are part of the solutions

Because the exhibition is above all a place for action, solutions and levers available to local authorities, it is essential to present themes that have become essential to bring out concrete, realistic and pragmatic ideas.

Among the main themes of the 2022 edition :

Sobriety, a major emerging topic in the public debate and claimed by many specialists as a major cursor of energy and ecological transition. Planning, which is emerging as a public policy tool to be appropriated and reinvented according to needs, to guide ecological, economic and social action at the local level. Ruralities and Urbanities: the richness and diversity of the territories leads the visitors of the 2022 edition to question the ways of living the city, according to the scales, the contexts and the specificities. Strongly questioned following the health crisis and successive confinements, cities and the countryside have seen the emergence of new aspirations for quality of life, nature, proximity and new links to strengthen solidarity between territories. Collective and sustainable projects on a territorial scale: territorial projects do not only involve local authorities but also groups and often associate local authorities, associations, "civil society" and companies. Transitions call for this collective, cooperative dimension, which requires a rethinking of action and financing models and multi-actor relationships in order to carry out projects that make sense in a territory. It is within this framework that new economic models are being developed, based on short circuits, social, solidarity and circular realities in search of meaning and sustainability. Digital technology, which is inevitably imposed on all aspects of public life. The life of the show will be punctuated by a dense program within the various spaces dedicated to programming. The Labs, Vis ta Ville, Atmosphères and Arènes de l'Innovation, spaces discovered by visitors and exhibitors in 2021, will return to offer solutions, projects and initiatives, as well as debates and exchanges to deepen the understanding of the city and its environment.They will also offer debates and exchanges to collectively explore issues that are sometimes controversial for local authorities faced with transition problems in their territories. All the areas of the show, through presentations, pitches, and dialogues, will above all allow meetings that aim to understand the future in the present time, to bring out local initiatives.
