Tunisia/Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Médecins du Monde

A memorandum of understanding was signed on Monday between the Ministry of Women, Family and Seniors and the organization Médecins du Monde Belgium Mission Tunisia on the implementation of the "Médibus Tunis" project (mobile medical practice) and the project to improve access to health care for women in rural areas.

Signed jointly by the Minister of Women, Family and Seniors, Imen Zahouani Houimel, and the general coordinator of Médecins du Monde Belgium Mission Tunisia, Christelle Leon, the memorandum of understanding aims to implement projects and programmes that will help to improve the quality of life of women and children.projects and initiatives contributing to universal health coverage in Tunisia and more specifically to improving access to health care for the most vulnerable populations, particularly in disadvantaged regions.

It also aims to support local governance in health through the implementation of participatory approaches and the strengthening of local communities, the response to health problems, etc. including accelerating the response to HIV/AIDS and breast and uterine cancer and combating violence against women and girls in Tunisia.

Present in Tunisia since 2012, Médecins du Monde is an international medical development NGO providing medical assistance to vulnerable groups in Belgium and the rest of the world. It works to improve access to health care through 3 pillars: treating, witnessing, bringing about change.
