On April 24, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vice-Chairman Vo Van Hoan received Jeong-Kee Kim, CEO of the Regional Network of Local Authorities for Human Settlement Management (CityNet), on a working visit to Vietnam.

Vietnam is one of the countries that joined CityNet early on, said Vo Van Hoan, before expressing his wish to strengthen ties with CityNet to promote the city's image among the network's member cities.

The southern megalopolis currently maintains friendly relations with more than 50 localities around the world, and every two years organizes the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue with the participation of mayors from over 50 cities. The city wishes to strengthen its cooperation with CityNet to mobilize resources and improve the effectiveness of activities linked to the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue, particularly in resolving the challenges currently facing urban areas.

For his part, Jeong Kee Kim shared CityNet's future directions and expressed the hope that Ho Chi Minh City would host the CityNet General Assembly in 2026.

On this occasion, he also invited Ho Chi Minh City to attend the international conference on environmental protection and sustainable urban development organized by CityNet next June in the Republic of Korea.

CityNet is the largest association of urban actors committed to sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. Created in 1987 with the support of ESCAP, UNDP and UN-Habitat, the city network has grown to include over 160 municipalities, NGOs, private companies and research centers.

CityNet often organizes seminars and human resources training programs to provide solutions to urgent urban development and planning issues.
