Côte d'Ivoire/San-Pedro: the contribution of young people is called for to boost the local economy

The second edition of the San-Pedro Economic Days opened on Thursday, June 1, with the theme: "What contribution can youth make to the development of the local economy? An initiative of the Côte d'Ivoire Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-CI) and the Comité de Concertation État-Secteur Privé, these days aimed to create the conditions, through public-private dialogue, for a better contribution by young people to the economic and social development of San-Pedro.

For the city's administrative authorities, the choice of this theme is inspired by the vision of the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, who has declared 2023 the year of youth. With this in mind, the organizers have dedicated this second edition to youth in order to provide concrete answers to the employability of young people. Better still, to help them become entrepreneurs.

The President of the CCI-CI, Touré Faman, made a commitment on behalf of the consular institution to increase and consolidate its presence in order to support the development of the region.the economic and social development of this region so dear to each and every one of them.

Continuing, he urged young people to make a total commitment, and to take their full place, in order to benefit from all these projects to achieve their economic and social integration, a wish dear to the President of the Republic.

According to Linda Zraik, President of the CCI San Pedro Regional Delegation, these days were also intended to contribute to the emergence of regional champions.

Éric Ouattara, Technical Adviser to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and SME Promotion, expressed his delight at seeing the real "Marshall Plan" implemented for young people, on behalf of Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba. He encouraged the organizers to further strengthen this type of action in favor of young people, in order to facilitate their integration into the world of business and work.

The first day was marked by the presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of the Initiative San Pedro Sassandra cell, B-to-B meetings and instructive panels.

The second day was devoted to thematic discussions, in particular on The issue of employability of young people at the heart of the discussions.employability of young people; hiring procedures and incentives for youth employability.

Financing and support structures, in particular the Banque Populaire, Fin'elle, the Agence Emploi Jeunes, the Labour Inspectorate, the CNPS and the Réseau Ivoirien des Femmes Agricultrices et Transformatrices des Produits Agricoles (Ivorian Network of Women Farmers and Processors of Agricultural Products), focused their discussions on financing opportunities for young people and women in the field of entrepreneurship.

For Ms Sita Coulibaly, Head of Department at the San Pedro port community and member of the scientific committee, these days were marked by major innovations in the form of a diversified agenda designed to satisfy the interests of participants.

In addition to the recommendations, she noted that more than 975 participants took part in this 2nd edition of the event.
