On Thursday, Michel Patrick Boisvert, Minister of Economy and Finance for the Haitian Government and Laurent Msellati, Head of Operations of the World Bank in Haiti, signed three grant agreements totaling US$ 66 million for the health and disaster risk management sectors. This is additional financing for three projects under implementation, which is directly in line with the priority given by the World Bank to respond to the various crises that affect Haiti and which contribute to increasing the vulnerability and fragility that characterize the Haitian economy.

In the health sector, additional funding of $35 million was approved on May 23, 2022, for the Covid-19 Pandemic Response Project in Haiti.ti, followed on June 16 by the approval of an additional $20 million in funding for the Haiti Primary Health Care Strengthening and Surveillance Project (PROSYS) https://www.haitilibre.com/article-36949-haiti-world-bank-additional-financing-of-20-million-for-strengthening-primary-health-care.html. Finally, on May 26, 2022, the World Bank's Board of Directors allocated an additional $11 million in funding for the Climate Risk Management and Resilience Project (CRRMP).

A large part of this additional funding represents the World Bank's contribution to the National Recovery and Reconstruction Program for the Southern Peninsula, which was hit hard by the August 14, 2021 earthquake. At the February 2022 donor conference, the World Bank pledged to provide approximately $200 million to support the Government of Haiti's response https://www.haitilibre.com/article-35978-haiti-flash-le-pm-obtient-des-promesses-d-engagement-de-l-international-de-600-millions-de-dollars.html.

With the signing of these three grant agreements, the full amount is now available to the Government of Haiti to implement the program as soon as possible and to complement the interventions already underway.
