A workshop on advocacy for the official recognition of members of community child protection mechanisms (CEMs), which was opened by the official in charge of the Atacora prefect, Maguidi Kora Gbéré, brought together on Friday in Tanguiéta, the mayors of the five communes of intervention of the Impact-Elle programme, the child protection focal points, the heads of social promotion centres and representatives of NGOs working in the protection sector.

As an integral part of the Impact-Elle project's implementation, the workshop also allowed the participants to see the relevance of recognizing CEM in the child protection chain, especially at the community level, and to examine the draft decree that will subsequently be issued by the mayors of the five project intervention municipalities.

The Executive Director of Fee-Développement, Mama Sourokou, recalled the gloomy picture of child protection in Atacora, with testimonies that are chilling. He emphasized the important role of community mechanisms in collecting data, alerts and others.

The representative of the prefect of Atacora, Maguidi Kora Gbéré and the mayor of the town of Matéri, Robert Wimbo KASSA, were delighted with this initiative and reassured of the diligence that will be done for the official taking of acts, notably the communal decrees.

It should be noted that in addition to the presentations on the results of the Impact-Elle program and the reason for the CEMP, the CPS managers gave testimonies on the practical interventions of these mechanisms.
