Congo/Fight against breast cancer: a health walk to raise public awareness
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, a health walk was organized last Sunday to mark the end of the month of pink October, dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
In organizing this walk, the Ministry of Health set itself a twofold objective: to demonstrate the government's commitment to encouraging prevention, and to providing support for those affected by the disease.
The health walk was a success, given the mobilization of members of the government, notably the Minister of State and Minister of Public Health and Social Welfare, Dr Samuel Roger Kamba, the Prime Minister, Judith Tulaka Sumika, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Samuel Roger Kamba.Judith Tulaka Suminwa, Head of Government, and Marie-Thérèse Sombo, Minister of Higher and University Education: "breast cancer", a pathology that affects many women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Health, Dr Samuel Roger Kamba, stressed the importance of prevention and early detection in the fight against breast cancer. He also emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence in the rapid detection and management of this disease, thus improving the responsiveness of the healthcare system.
In the same vein, the health boss announced the future construction of a screening center in collaboration with the Atomic Energy Agency. He also reiterated the Head of State's firm commitment to improving access to healthcare for all Congolese through his universal health and coverage program. " This program aims to ensure that every citizen has the right to quality healthcare, without distinction and without breaking the bank", he stressed.
After an initial package of free care for women giving birth, he continued, the second package will include free medicines for infectious diseases and certain chronic illnesses such as breast cancer. While thanking the participants, volunteers and partners who contributed to the success of this crucial event, Dr Roger Kamba encouraged all participants to promote preventive behaviors and get screened regularly, as early detection is vital for effective treatment. " Together, let's continue to raise awareness and take action for a future without cancer," he said. For her part, the Prime Minister, Judith Suminwa, noted that there are already three care centers, including Ngaliema and the Nganda center, offering essential services to women, while also emphasizing early detection.
Reacting to the press during the march, Déborah Ndaya, Head of Division at the Secretariat to the President of the Republic, urged women to be screened in time to avoid deaths from breast cancer. " We say zero breast cancer. We don't want any more deaths linked to this disease in the DRC. We've started this awareness campaign in Kinshasa, and we're going to extend it elsewhere for the well-being of women. When we see the First Lady, automatically the Head of State is there to support us in this fight ...", she declared. The march began at the Sosimat traffic circle, passing along the Boulevard du 30 Juin and ending at the Notre-Dame-de-Fatima parish, where participants congratulated the Head of State, champion of positive masculinity.
