Opened on April 16, the training workshop for members of the special delegations of the partner communes of the Inclusive Governance for Resilience (IGR) project closed its doors on the evening of April 19, 2024 in Ouagadougou, on a positive note. The closing ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of Territorial Administration, Edgard Sou Sié, who was joined by USAID representative Siaka Ouédraogo.

The overall aim of this training workshop for communal players was to build the capacity of special delegations to ensure effective and participative management of their territory, in order to improve local governance in the partner communes of the IGR project.

This has now been achieved. At the end of the workshop, the members of the special delegations were all satisfied, including Naaba Saaga, 1st vice-president de la délégation spéciale de Boussouma (Centre-Nord), for whom, if the IGR didn't exist, it had to be created. In his words, the workshop really strengthened his skills in participative management.

In addition to the challenges of yesteryear, there is the issue of internally displaced persons, who must now be integrated into commune management. The traditional chief stressed that the workshop had given them skills that would help them to integrate all these important aspects into management.

Korotimi Soré/Sawadogo, 1st vice-president of the Roko communal delegation (Centre-Nord region), also shared this view, stressing that, in addition to learning about the various themes, they will also be able to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the workshop. In addition to learning about the various themes, they will also be responsible for training other members in their respective communes, to enable a large number of people to understand local governance and put it into practice.

Closing the workshop, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Edgard Sou Sié, and the representative of the donorrepresentative of donor USAID, Siaka Ouédraogo, both congratulated the project on its contribution to local governance.
In addition to training members of the special delegations of partner communes, it should be noted that the Inclusive Governance for Resilience project, which is being implemented between 2021 and 2026, has already supported town halls in issuing birth certificates, enrolling people for national identity cards, and signed agreements for the digitization of civil status documents.
