SENEGAL-GENRE-SOCIAL / Food kits and hygiene products for women prisoners at the MAC de Rufisque

The "Pascal Faramarène Universel" (PFU) association, which brings together young people from the city of Rufisque, has handed out food kits, sanitary towels and various products to women detainees at the Rufisque House of Arrest and Correction (MAC).

Accompanied by a number of young people, the honorary president of this association, set up by Djibril Diagne dit Pascal, a son of Rufisque based in France, spoke of this act of solidarity and sharing with women prisoners in this town 30 kilometers from Dakar.

They're not an end in themselves, nor are they a disgrace, still less women to be ostracized from society. They are sisters, mothers and wives who will return to us once they have paid their debts to society. We must not forget them", stressed Marième Mboup.

The MAC administration expressed its satisfaction with "this important donation, which reinforces the State's constant efforts to put inmates in good conditions", reported Marième Mboup at the end of her visit with MAC Rufisque managers.

For the father of the France-based donor, Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Diagne, "he is a son of the town who intends to perpetuate this act, but above all to extend it to other places of detention for women".

The Association has not yet been fully structured, but other gestures of solidarity will be initiated towards vulnerable groups, he says.

The "Pascal Faramarène Universel" association also aims to finance income-generating projects for young people, supporting them in their development initiatives through entrepreneurship.
