Congo/ Elections and human rights: observers in training
Cephas Germain Ewangui, Permanent Secretary of the Consultative Council for Civil Society and Non-Governmental Organizations, opened a training session for international mediators and observers on election observation and human rights in Brazzaville on September 11.
The training of mediators and observers in election observation and human rights, organized by the Réseau international des ambassadeurs et artisans de la paix (Riamapaix), is the second of its kind on Congolese soil. "The mission of observers is to reassure, appease and ensure the quality of elections, and to testify to their credibility or otherwise in the eyes of national opinion.dibilité ou non auprès des opinions nationales et internationales", said permanent secretary Cephas Germain Ewangui, opening the training session.
The work to be done with strength and determination, he continued, is that of promoting the values linked to democracy, including the organization of competitive, free, transparent and fair elections under the supervision of trained observers.
According to Germain Loubota, President of the Conseil supérieur des églises de réveil du Congo, the training aims to equip observers and peace mediators with the skills they need to do a good job in the field, both in Africa and elsewhere. " The Congo must have trained observers and mediators so that the country is not absent from activities linked to the life of nations," he declared. "Our desire is to see Africa develop in peace. To see every African contributing to the development of our countries, of the continent", said the president of Riamapaix, Trésor Rabby Koffi, who is also a bishop chaplain.
