Together with members of the community targeting committees, the Projet de protection sociale et d'inclusion productive des jeunes (PSIPJ) validated the lists of vulnerable young people in the Pointe-Noire department on July 9.

The aim of the project is to train young people in self-employment, particularly vulnerable school dropouts aged between 18 and 35 who are keen to become entrepreneurs. Once selected, these young people will spend a month taking part in various training courses on self-employment, before receiving allowances that will enable them to set up their own businesses.

"With regard to sub-component 6.1, i.e. training in self-employment, all sectors of activity are concerned, notably the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. By this I mean young people wishing to set up in business, animal husbandry and other activities," explained Grâce Moukala, environmental and social protection assistant for the Pointe-Noire and Kouilou departments.

For his part, Loko Michael Vivien, head of the 316 Paka 2 district, Mouissi Madeleine, said the meeting had enabled all the members of the community targeting committees to correct certain omissions concerning the real identity of vulnerable young people.

The project is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Humanitarian Action. These validation sessions follow on from the social surveys of Pointe-Noire households from which these vulnerable young people originate. PSIPJ collected the files between November and December, before carrying out the social vulnerability surveys.
