In Togo, the town of Aného (30 km southeast of Lomé) is to be home to a tourist center. The mayor of the Lacs 1 commune, Alexis Aquereburu, recently announced that work was underway. He also launched a call for candidates to design the furnishings for the future home.

It will be a framework for promoting and enhancing the culture of the Lacs 1 commune, according to the municipal administration. In fact, it will be equipped with furnishings including office furniture, sculptures and paintings illustrating the history of the palaces of Glidji, Lolan and Adjigo.

Local craftsmen are invited to submit " high-quality furnishings made from local materials ". Proposals will be accepted until July 23, 2024.

This initiative is being announced at a time when, a few days ago, the country's authorities announced that they were pursuing efforts to have the Aného-Glidji locality listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage site. This followed a visit by a technical team from the Ministry of Culture, which assessed the state of conservation of the site, which has been on Togo's UNESCO tentative list since December 2021.
