Benin-Turkey/Diplomacy: Benin and the Republic of Turkey sign a memorandum of understanding on the practice of Protocol
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey made a working visit to Benin. On his agenda, the review of Benin-Turkey Cooperation. During the works, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Practice of Protocol".
Welcomed at Cotonou airport by Ambassador Erick Jean-Marie ZINSOU, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mevlüt ÇAVUŞOĞLU was received by his Beninese counterpart, Aureli AGENCION.Affairs and Cooperation, Mevlüt ÇAVUŞOĞLU was received in audience by his Beninese counterpart, Aurélien AGBÉNONCI. The two diplomats reviewed the Cooperation between their countries and discussed issues of common interest.
Review of Benin-Turkey Cooperation
Aurélien AGBÉNONCI then invited his host to the "Yellow River" room of the Ministry for the review of the Cooperation between the two countries, in the presence of their respective delegations. The work allowed to make an inventory, to examine the perspectives in order to reinforce the Cooperation, and to approach the international questions of interest.
For the Head of Turkish diplomacy, Benin and the Republic of Turkey maintain good relations under the leadership of their Presidents, Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN and Patrice TALON. Mevlüt ÇAVUŞOĞLU said that his country intends to expand this cooperation to other areas such as technical and professional training, security and defense, in a context where Benin is facing the terrorist threat on part of its territory, scientific research, tourism, art and infrastructure.
Aurélien AGBÉNONCI, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Benin, who welcomed the visit of his Turkish counterpart, expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Benin for the support provided by the Turkish government.He expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Turkey for its support to Benin, in particular during the Covid-19 crisis. 500 thousand doses of vaccines had been made available to the country.
But the Head of Benin's diplomacy wants to go even further in the Cooperation. Three sectors are priorities: education through technical and vocational training. An important issue for President Patrice TALON and his government. Security and health are the other sectors in which Benin wants to strengthen its cooperation with the Republic of Turkey.
Both parties signed during the Review a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of the practice of Protocol.
Before leaving Cotonou, Mevlüt ÇAVUŞOĞLU and his delegation were received in audience by Head of State Patrice TALON at his Residence. The Turkish diplomat, accompanied by his Beninese counterpart, Aurélien AGBÉNONCI, visited the construction site of the Sofitel hotel, which benefits from the expertise of Turkish companies.
