The rules of cybersecurity in Togo were presented to operators of essential services (OSE) and public administrations on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Lome during a session organized by the National Agency for Cybersecurity (ANCy) and Cyber Defense Africa.

At this session, the agency against cybercrime shared with participants, the legal framework and preventive measures and fight against cyber-attacks such as ransomware, phishing, or spam. Faced with these threats that cause financial losses, the Togolese authorities have decided to play their regalian role of protection and preservation of sovereignty, says Gbota Gwaliba, Director General of the ANCy.

" The challenge is to reduce the risks to the system, to limit their impact on the operation and activities of public or private organizations," said No. 1 of the ANCy.

At this meeting, a presentation on the decree adopting the rules of cybersecurity in Togo, the risks involved and the means of mitigation, was made. " It is to emphasize good practices in declining the issues and challenges of securing the cyber space, " said the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, General Yark Damehane.

Note that Togo has undertaken several initiatives including the creation of the ANCy and the establishment of Lome Data Center, in line with the fight against cybercrime and in line with its ambition to become an attractive digital hub for investors.

The country had also hosted last March, as the first African state, the submarine cable " Equiano" of Google.
