Reunion/Saint-Denis: AFD lends 10 million euros to the town council for sustainable development

Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Saint-Denis City Council have signed a 10 million euro loan agreement to support sustainable development initiatives in Saint-Denis.

Yesterday, the Hôtel de Ville in Saint-Denis was the venue for the signing of a loan agreement between the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the commune. The Mayor of Saint-Denis, Ericka Bareigts, and the Director of AFD LaRéunion-TAAF, Marie-Pierre Nicollet, were the signatories.

The loan agreement provides for close collaboration between AFD and the City of Saint-Denis, with a view to providing the municipality with the best possible advice in terms of financial strategy, as well as support for the project's implementation.financial support for its ecological and social development project, particularly in the fields of education, health, sport and soft mobility.

Projects financed under this agreement include :
- Greening the city center (reducing heat islands and planting a tree for the birth of every Dionysien, DionyPark),
-development of living spaces to restore the city's human scale (the "quarter-hour city"),
-energy efficiency in public buildings, with priority given to school buildings,
- soft mobility, with the wideningsidewalks, the provision of bicycles and incentives for the use of peripheral park-and-ride facilities.
