At the end of last week in Aného, the Lacs 1 commune made public its management report covering fiscal years 2020 to 2024, as well as the 2025 administrative account. Over five years, successive budgets totaled 5.46 billion FCFA. Revenues raised amounted to 2.59 billion FCFA, while expenditure was estimated at 2.78 billion FCFA.

These resources, supplemented by external support, have financed a series of projects in the fields of education, health, infrastructure and sanitation. Achievements include not only the construction and rehabilitation of schools, markets, health centers and municipal facilities, but also the acquisition of heavy machinery, electrification and the installation of street lamps. The commune has also invested in the development of green spaces and carried out awareness-raising and reforestation campaigns.

Despite these advances, mobilizing local revenue remains a major challenge. The mayor, Me Aquereburu Coffi Alexis, urged residents to pay their taxes regularly to support development projects. He emphasized the ambition to make Lacs 1 "the greenest commune in Togo by 2050".

The municipality is counting on several assets for its economic development. It intends to draw on its historical and cultural heritage, its position on the border with Benin and on the Abidjan-Lagos corridor, and its openness to the Atlantic to develop new activities, particularly in tourism.
