Morocco/Sidi Slimane: Former prisoners receive equipment for income-generating projects

A batch of equipment for income-generating projects was handed over on Thursday to former inmates of prisons in the province of Sidi Slimane, as part of a partnership agreement signed in 2023 between the Provincial Human Development Committee and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Prisoners.

The initiative, launched in the presence of the governor of Sidi Slimane province, Driss Rubio, is part of the implementation of the support program for people in precarious situations under the 3rd phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).

The operation involved the distribution of equipment and materials worth a total of 778.773 dirhams, to 22 beneficiaries of income-generating projects, divided between industry (59%), services (32%) and agriculture (9%).

In a statement to MAP, Amal Benabdi, head of the communications department of the Sidi Slimane prefecture, emphasized that this initiative aims to facilitate the socio-economic integration of this segment of the population.conomic integration of this underprivileged segment of the population by providing them with the equipment and materials they need to launch and develop their projects.

He added that "during their period of incarceration, these ex-prisoners benefited from training programs made available to them, enabling them to start their own businesses. available to them, enabling them to acquire professional skills that will undoubtedly help them to succeed in their projects".

For her part, Hanina Ayegou, coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Prisoners' Support and Rehabilitation Center in Meknes, pointed out that the sectoral resectoral partition of beneficiary projects takes into account the socio-economic specificities of the region, as well as the professional qualifications and diplomas of the beneficiaries.
