France/ Dol-de-Bretagne. Promoting the sustainable development of businesses

The Envir'A program helps craft businesses improve their energy and environmental performance. The communauté de communes gets involved.

On Monday, the Envir'A agreement was signed by the Chambre de métiers et de l'artisanat (CMA) Bretagne, the Brittany region and the Pays de Dol Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel community of communes.

The aim is to help craft businesses promote their commitment to sustainable development. Philippe Plantin, President of CMA 35, explains : "With this support for ecological transition, craftsmen can improve their environmental and economic performance . The actions to be implemented are very varied, and can concern waste, energy, water and mobility, among others. Craftsmen will then be able to promote their virtuous approaches to their customers, and set an example for other craftsmen to follow."

"An evaluation will be made

After canvassing and inviting tenders from its members, the CMA 35 selected fifteen of the region's 400 commercial and craft businesses to benefit from free advice from the CMA.

As for the local authority, in this case the communauté de communes, it supports and promotes the scheme among craftsmen, and offers assistance in putting together applications for grants to purchase energy-efficient equipment.

"An evaluation will be carried out in a year's time with the selected companies, and if the results are convincing, their exemplarity will be publicized to other companies in the community of communes, so that they can join this virtuous cycle", notes Philippe Plantin.

The CMA also assists selected businesses in preparing their applications for financial aid via the Pass commerce et artisanat. The Agence de la Transition Ecologique (Ademe) is contributing €6,000, the Région €2,400, the CMA €1,257, and the Dol Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel community €3,278.
