France/ Loctudy. Twinning committee projects with Spain and Wales
The Loctudy (Finistère) twinning committee will welcome a delegation from Ribadéo, Spain, in 2025. It is also organizing a trip to Wales in July.
Loctudy (Finistère) is twinned with Fishguard in Wales and Ribdéo in Spain. Laurence Costaganna, president of the Comité de jumelage for the past year, presented the association's results and plans to an audience of around 50 people at the general meeting held on Friday evening, December 6, 2024.
In addition to the galette des rois, the nautical festival, participation in the Redadeg, theater and Breton language courses, the year was marked above all by the visit of a Welsh delegation in April and the trip to Ribadéo in September. Links were forged with Galician associations committed to Breton culture. An exchange between high-school students from Pont-l'Abbé and Ribadéo also took place for the first time.
After approval of the financial report presented by the committee's treasurer, the president presented members with a list of events for the coming year.
In 2025, there will be two highlights: the Galicians' visit to Loctudy in July, and a trip to Fishguard. The town hall has invited us to take part in a historical re-enactment of the last French attempt to invade them in the 18th century. As the trip takes place in July, children and teenagers will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to cross the Channel.
English and Spanish language workshops are now offered to all members on Thursday afternoons, in partnership with the Association des villes françaises du Pays bigouden. Places are still available.
