Canada/Trois-Rivières could be the site of a social housing project for seniors
Trois-Rivières could build a new social housing building in the Sainte-Marguerite district, north of Parc Girard. The project would be in line with Trois-Rivières' Housing Policy, which aims to provide social and affordable housing, given a vacancy rate of around 0.4%.
The subject was discussed at Tuesday's work session. The project proposal includes the creation of a six-storey building with around one hundred units.
The approximately $30 million project would meet various criteria, such as limited tree cutting in the area, while protecting as much green space as possible.
In a press release, the city explained that it did not want to miss the opportunity to submit its candidacy to host a social housing project like the Mission Unitaînés project.
For the project to be feasible, a zoning amendment is required. If elected officials go ahead with this amendment at a future council meeting, a public consultation meeting will be held.
