France/ La Haye selected from 15 French communes for a study on artificial intelligence
Jean-Marc Gaillon, mayor of La Haye, is taking part in a national study on artificial intelligence. For the past year, he has been integrating AI into the day-to-day work of the town hall.
Only 15 French communes have been selected for a survey onartificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the development of local authorities. The small village of La Haye (Seine-Maritime), with its 380 inhabitants, is one of them. Jean-Marc Gaillon, the village's mayor, is taking part in the study.
Artificial intelligence at the service of the town hall for a year now
This is hardly a surprise. The mayor is already one step ahead of his colleagues in the Pays de Bray. The man who runs his own business developing medical imaging software usesartificial intelligence in his day-to-day work at the town hall in La Haye.
This study is a unique opportunity to highlight the prospects and initiatives of local authorities in the face of AI challenges.

It enables him to carry out polls and surveys aimed at his constituents, or to draft deliberations before town councils.
An avant-garde elected official in Pays de Bray
Back in June, Jean-Marc Gaillon attracted the attention of David Lisnard, President of theFrench Mayors' Association (AMF). The elected official from Pays de Bray spoke to the AMF's digital commission in Paris about the "actions undertaken in his commune thanks to AI and the challenges it poses for rural communes", notes the mayor.
He has since become a member of this commission.
Jean-Marc Gaillon, director of his own IT company developing medical imaging software, has been using AI-enabled software for almost a year and a half. The tool is designed for use by local authority employees and elected representatives.
It's a huge time-saver. Artificial intelligence helps human beings. It's a complement.

The opinions of local councillors will be at the heart of the study conducted by Harris Interactive, which, thanks to its experience in the field, will "shed light on the vision of a rural commune like ours".
The findings will be cross-referenced with a survey of local residents. They will be presented at the Salon des maires.
