Morocco/Slum clearance program in Casablanca: Second batch of beneficiary families receive keys to apartments
A ceremony to hand over apartment keys to the second batch of families benefiting from the rehousing operation for residents of the "Mkhazniya" neighborhood in El Hank, took place on Friday at the headquarters of the Casablanca-Anfa district prefecture annex.
The ceremony was presided over by the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed Mhidia, and the governor of the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture, Aziz Dades.arrondissements de Casablanca-Anfa, Aziz Dades, in the presence of the President of the Casablanca Communal Council, Nabila Rmili, as well as several elected representatives, officials and other personalities.
The operation is part of a program to rehouse slum dwellers with the aim of improving living conditions for citizens, while striving to make Casablanca a city free of slums, given its economic and social weight, and current challenges and contexts.
In statements to MAP on this occasion, several beneficiaries expressed their delight at being rehoused, praising the simplified and rapid procedure for processing the files of people wishing to benefit from the new slum clearance program.
For example, (A-Y), one of the beneficiaries of the rehousing operation for residents of the "Mkhazniya" neighborhood, expressed his delight at receiving the key to his new home. He praised the location of his new apartment, close to public transport and various essential services.
For her part, (M.Y) expressed her immense joy at leaving the slum in the Mkhazniya district where she had been living for over six decades, saying that by obtaining an apartment that meets the requirements of decent housing, she had finally realized her lifelong dream. She also emphasized that the administrative procedures for applying for the apartment were quick and simple.
This is the second operation following the first handover of keys, which took place on October 4. The rehousing operation involves around 1,200 families in the "Mkhazniya" district.
It should be noted that the criteria adopted in the selection of these apartments, according to the new program, include in particular attractive geographical location, availability of public transport, various public services, etc. of public transport, various public and social services and the necessary local amenities, as well as the quality of the construction and full compliance with the authorized plans.
To this end, commissions have been set up in the various prefectures, provinces and district prefectures where the host sites are located, to assiduously and continuously monitor the realization of these apartments, in order to guarantee the quality of their construction and that of the essential equipment, as well as their delivery within the set deadlines and according to the agreed schedules.
