SENEGAL-SOCIETE / Plan International strengthens the skills of some sixty children in Thiès
The NGO Plan International has strengthened the skills of some 60 child ambassadors it sponsors in Thiès.
This capacity building was provided from Friday to Tuesday by its regional office in the rail capital. The training focused on governance, leadership and communication. Beneficiaries come from the communes of Ngoundiane, Notto, Ngayène Sirakh and Tassette.
The sponsored ambassador is a child who represents his or her peers, all of whom live in the villages where Plan International is active," explained Cheikhou Ndiaye, Director of Sponsorship at Plan International Senegal.
Today," he said, "Plan International's Thiès office has taken the initiative of bringing together a large number of these sponsored children to further strengthen their capacities on topical issues.
Mr. Ndiaye added that the capacity-building also concerned themes of particular interest to Plan International, notably sponsorship, but also gender-based violence.
In each village, we take on two ambassadors, who represent the other ambassadors at regional level", said Awa Diouf, project manager at Plan International's regional office in Thiès.
They are called upon to act as relays within their communities, sharing all the experience they have acquired during this training session", said the project manager.
