The town of Saint-Marcel awarded its medal to Anna-Maria Macelloni, a former teacher at Cerreto Guidi secondary school, a town twinned with Saint-Marcel.

On Saturday April 13, Hervé Podraza, Mayor of Saint-Marcel (Eure), welcomed to the Espace Saint-Exupéry the Italian students from Cerreto Guidi, a town twinned with the municipality, as well as their French family and the delegation from the Cerreto Guidi twinning committee.from Cerreto Guidi, the town twinned with Saint-Marcel, along with their French families and a delegation from the Cerreto Guidi twinning committee.

"I'm delighted to welcome you, parents and students. After a few years' break in exchanges due to Covid, it's great to see them resume. Many thanks to Marie-Christine Legras, music education teacher at Saint-Marcel, and Michaela Rosmarini, French teacher at Cerreto Guidi, for having worked to make this exchange possible once again. This year, 2024, will mark the 25th anniversary of this twinning," says Hervé Podraza.

One of the initiators of this twinning through school exchanges was honored. This was Anna-Maria Macelloni.

"I feel a bit Saint-Marcelloise".

Anna-Maria Macelloni has been involved in twinning since its inception. Now retired, she continues to work for exchanges within the twinning committee, which is chaired by Fernando Sani.

Cerreto Guidi's representative, Francesca Brotini, took part in these exchanges when she was a pupil. Anna-Maria Macelloni was awarded the Ville de Saint-Marcel medal for this commitment.

"I've been coming to Saint-Marcel since the 1992-1993 school year and I feel a bit Saint-Marcelloise. After all these years, if we continue to meet, it's because values such as getting to know each other, dialogue, respect and friendship have borne fruit. I wish a long life to this twinning and these exchanges, so precious on an emotional, social and cultural level for the development of our young people. They are our future", she said with great emotion.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the twinning, a delegation from Saint-Marcel will be visiting Cerreto Guidi in October.
