After 31 years in existence, the Sarstedt-Aubevoye-Gaillon twinning committee now has 71 members. A good score for the association, which still hopes to recruit young people.

The president of the Sarstedt-Aubevoye-Gaillon twinning committee, Béatrice Cuisset, opened the general meeting, held at the beginning ofbeginning of 2024, at the Salle Edmond-Bliard in Aubevoye, by wishing Odile Hantz, mayor of Gaillon, a speedy recovery. The meeting was attended by Louis Mendy, deputy mayor of Gaillon, and Paulette Roussel, deputy mayor of Val d'Hazey.

The president continued the general meeting, highlighting the positive balance sheet, the dynamism of the members and expressing her heartfelt thanks to the municipalities and the team at the Espace culturel Marcel-Pagnol for their support.

71 members

She was also delighted with the stability of the twinning committee, which now boasts 71 members.

She added that the Germans regularly express their gratitude for the hospitality and welcome they receive from the twinning committee.

Where are the young people?

However, she expressed regret at the low level of young people's participation in the Twinning Committee, and at the gradual extinction of German language teaching in schools.

Twinning committee secretary Thierry Cuisset reviewed past activities, highlighting the positive impact of the past year's cultural exchanges. Among the notable successes, he highlighted the Christmas market organized at the Espace Marcel-Pagnol, which welcomed around ten Germans who greatly appreciated this Christmas celebration. These initiatives continue every year, strengthening the ties between the twinning committees of the two countries.
