Tunisia/Gabès: a solidarity market for economic emancipation and local development

The "Hia Al Hadaf" (She is the goal) association in Chenini, part of the Gabès-Ouest delegation (Governorate of Gabès), continues to organize a weekly solidarity market, launched over a year ago and set up in the association's cultural space.

Organized every Saturday, this market provides women farmers and craftswomen with a prime venue for marketing their products, all the more so as the association periodically invites cultural figures and civil society activists.

The association is also committed to providing training for a number of women and girls in the many craft specialties prevalent in the region, with the aim of guaranteeing them a source of income.

Given the central role played by the oasis in the association's activities, a number of awareness-raising campaigns have been carried out with the aim of keeping the oases clean and supporting farmers in the proper use of their plots.

The "She is the goal" association is also involved in campaigns to promote the tourism sector in Gabès, in particular tourism and the region's handicrafts, in partnership with the regional handicrafts commission in Gabès.
