According to a spokesman for the NRW Ministry of Transport, around 500,000 students in North Rhine-Westphalia will benefit from the nationwide uniform semester ticket, which could start in the summer semester of 2024. All that remains is for the general student committees to conclude the necessary contracts with the transport companies.
Students pay 60 percent of the regular fare

"I'm pleased that today we were able to reach agreement with the Länder on a German student ticket," said Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP). "After the Prime Minister's conference finally confirmed the Germany Ticket's financing problems, nothing stood in the way of an agreement on the Semester Ticket."
