As part of the twinning between Coulaines and Weyhe, last week twelve 8-9 year old students from the Albert-Camus school spent six days in Germany. Together with twenty friends, aged 9-10, from the school in Weyhe, they stayed in a youth hostel near the town for four days.

The Franco-German students shared the same program, the same rooms. They even communicated with their hands and feet," says Kurt Kunde, the elected official in charge of twinning.

He introduced the students to German for this educational project with Hélène Robert, a third grade teacher. A Frenchwoman, living on site, introduced the young Germans to French.

On Thursday, awakened by the snow, they visited the port city of Bremerhaven on the North Sea and the climate house.

This stay brought maturity and autonomy to the students. They developed relationships with Germans their own age. They have opened up to a culture that is different from that of their country of origin. It's very beneficial," summarizes Hélène Robert.

This trip was possible thanks to the twinning committee, the Albert-Camus school, the city of Coulaines, a support from the State (city policy) and the Franco-German Office for Youth.
