Local authorities: apply for the Regiostars 2023 awards

RegioStars is organized every year by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO).

Over the years, it has become Europe's label of excellence for EU-funded projects that demonstrate regional development impact and inclusion.

What's new in 2023? Projects can now compete in six categories:

• A competitive and smart Europe: fostering innovative economic transformation and regional connectivity ;
• A Green Europe: fostering a clean and fair energy transition;
• A connected Europe: developing modern, safe and intelligent energy, digital and transport infrastructures;
• A social and inclusive Europe: promoting equality and non-discrimination;
• A Europe closer to its citizens: ensuring the sustainable and integrated development of all types of territories through local initiatives;
• The theme of the year - European Year of Competences 2023: enhancing skills and supporting retraining.

The online application platform is open until 31 May 2023.

As in previous years, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist at the Public Choice Award. All winners will be announced at the REGIOSTARS ceremony in Ostrava (Czech Republic) on 16 November 2023.

The winners of the six categories and the Public Choice Award winner will win a local communication campaign managed in cooperation with DG REGIO to promote the awarded activities in the region.
