Belgium/Bastogne-Bertogne merger: the results of the popular consultation are known

This Sunday, November 20th, the Bertognards went in numbers to the three polling stations put at their disposal to express themselves in the framework of a popular consultation. This one concerns the tumultuous project of fusion between their municipality and the one of Bastogne. In the last few days, 2890 invitations have been sent to the population aged over 16 years.

The figures have just come in and, according to the first estimates, the participation rate in this popular consultation (not compulsory) is 42%. Still according to these estimates, the against would win with 63% of the votes against 37% for. Let's remember that the majority of Bertognarde had stipulated that it would go through with the merger process, regardless of the outcome of the ballot box.
