France/ A Palestinian delegation received in the town hall of Rostrenen
As part of a week of official visits in France, a Palestinian delegation was officially received, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, by Guillaume Robic, mayor of Rostrenen (Cotes-d'Armor), Julie Cloarec and Jeannot Flageul, deputies, and Raymond Géléoc, advisor.
This official meeting followed visits to Palestine and refugee camps last June by Guillaume Robic, mayor of Rostrenen (Côtes-d'Armor) and Jeannot Flageul, as part of a delegation from the AJPF, Association for twinning between Palestinian refugee camps and French cities.
The Palestinian delegation was composed of Nasser Qatami, Minister of the Arab fund and adviser to the Prime Minister, Mahmoud Mobark, head of the executive office of the popular committees and head of the popular committee of the Palestinian refugee camps. The Palestinian delegation was composed of Nasser Qatami, Minister of the Arab Fund and Advisor to the Prime Minister, Mahmoud Mobark, Head of the Executive Office of the Popular Committees and Head of the Popular Committee of Al Jalazonne Refugee Camp, Ahmed Thouqan, Head of the Popular Committee of Balata Refugee Camp, and Said Thouqan, interpreter.
After recalling that the material, human and psychological conditions of existence are increasingly harsh and unjust in Palestine and in the refugee camps "Nasser Qatami expressed both his hope for peace and the realization of a Palestinian state, and the positive energy and hope transmitted by the solidarity coming from all over the world. Your recognition is a great help and has a very strong positive impact on the Palestinian youth. Their respect and consideration is very deep. You have the opportunity to prevent our lives from being rendered invisible and nullified.
A message from a refugee camp president
The delegation also brought a message from Taha al Irarni, president of the Palestinian refugee camp of Nur Shams, conveying his friendship and shared desire to build lasting ties of solidarity with the City of Rostrenen. Despite the difficulties that we may experience here, we cannot be human, democratic, progressive and close our eyes to what has been happening in Palestine for years. Daily misery is added to historical suffering and to a use of force that destroys and suffocates Palestinian youth behind walls, whether they are real or imposed in the minds of the people. Peace through the respect of international law must become the goal of all, especially here in France and in Europe. Local elected officials have their responsibility and their role to play, for example by building twinning with Palestine," concluded Guillaume Robic.
