The closing seminar of the "Bargou 2000 Strategy" project, held in Tunis (Tunisia) on 6 December 2021, announced the elaboration of a participatory local development plan, the training of more than 240 young entrepreneurs and the financing of 71 socio-economic initiatives.

Launched on November 15, 2017, the project ''Bargou 2020 Strategy'' for the promotion of an inclusive territorial development in the delegation of Bargou (governorate of Siliana), ends in this month of December 2021, following an exemplary local mobilization and a remarkable inclusive dynamic within the local population and the various actors, putting forward the participative dialogue based on the equity of opportunities and the collaboration between the various stakeholders: Public, private, associative and community.

The "Bargou 2020 Strategy " project is an initiative that is part of the European Neighbourhood Programme Pap Enpard, carried out in five sites in Tunisia: Bargou (Siliana), Aïn Drahem (Jendouba), Kerkennah (Sfax) Kébili nord (Kébili), Beni Khedache and Ben Guerdane (Médenine).

Funded by the European Union in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries and the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, the project is implemented in the delegation of Bargou.

The objective of the "Bargou 2020 Strategy " project is to promote the socio-economic development of the Bargou delegation in line with a local development plan.The project "Bargou 2020 Strategy" aims to promote the socio-economic development of the Bargou delegation in line with a local development plan established and managed according to the principles of equal opportunities and good governance. It is based on the sustainable development of natural and agricultural resources in rural areas in Tunisia for the benefit of vulnerable rural populations.

According to the head of the "Bargou 2020 Strategy" project at Oxfam Tunisia, "one of the best achievementsof the project is undoubtedly this One of the best achievements of the project is undoubtedly the approach of local mobilisation, citizen dialogue and consultation between the various public, associative and private stakeholders, which has resulted in a plan for the implementation of the project.This has resulted in an inclusive and participatory local development plan for the delegation of Bargou, based on a territorial diagnosis and the exploration of the various opportunities, riches and prospects for socio-economic progress in the region.

The participants in the closing seminar of the project discussed the different axes and mechanisms of this local development plan and in particular the means to be implemented for the concretization and sustainability of the approaches, the durability of the actions, the valorization of the achievements of the actions, the valorization of the assets and results in view of an appropriation of the approaches in other regions and especially the consolidation of the private projects subsidized in several disciplines by the young entrepreneurs of the delegation.

Among the key results of the project, we cite the creation of a local development committee and a territorial unit ofThe project's key results include the creation of a local development committee and a territorial support and management unit (UTAG) representing the local ecosystem and the various local and regional stakeholders; the development of a participatory territorial diagnosis in consultation with the local authorities; and the creation of a regional network for the development of the project.a participatory territorial diagnosis in consultation with the population and the various public, associative and private stakeholders; the carrying out of a study on local financing mechanisms; andcanisms of financing at the local level; the training of more than 240 young men and women on the elaboration of business plans; the financing of 71 private projects distributed on 3 different lots totalling 380.000 (out of a total of 562 project ideas received); the follow-up and accompaniment of the subsidized companies throughout the project and support for marketing (through participation in fairs and exhibitions, promotion of products and exchange of experiences...)exchange of experiences ...); the production of various guides (on the management of cascade subsidies, marketing, agriculture, livestock, services, as well as a guide on the capitalization of the project).
