Haiti - Health : USAID trains 2,500 health workers

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has invested in the training and essential resources that health workers need to provide quality care and address health challenges.

Through the USAID Health Project, 2,500 health workers have been trained to help mothers prepare for childbirth, including what to do if there are complications, how to care for new mothers and babies, how to breastfeed, and how to recognize danger signs that require further medical attention.In addition, USAID supported the training of 2,500 health workers to help mothers prepare for childbirth, including what to do in case of complications, to provide care for new mothers and babies, to teach new mothers how to breastfeed, and to recognize danger signs that require further medical attention.

In addition, USAID supported the training of 108 health care providers in 7 hospitals on the use of 37 ventilators that were donated by the U.S. government to Haiti.

"Strong health systems underpin all other health investments and lead to greater resilience and global health security," the agency maintains.
