Meeting on Tuesday February 27, 2024 for their annual general meeting, the members of the Comité des jumelages dozuléen (Calvados) are already preparing the events that will keep them busy over the coming months.

The year 2023 will have been rich in emotions for the members of the Comité des jumelages dozuléen, who met at their general meeting last Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

A tribute to Évelyne Chiche

The year 2023 will have been a time of wonderful exchanges between friends, but also of infinite sadness with the death of Evelyne Chiche. "Our thoughts are with Evelyne who has passed away. Évelyne was a very active member of our committee, which she loved for fifty years ", said Christiane Vincent-André, president of the association, paying tribute to her at the general meeting last Tuesday. She loved contact and exchanges, even if illness had recently prevented her from getting involved. A fact she greatly regretted. We miss Évelyne and will never forget her smile, her kindness and her help. She leaves a great void in our group.

A busy 2023

Last year, Dozulé and Zell am Main (Germany) celebrated the 30th anniversary of the signing of the charter between the two municipalities and the two committees. To honor these three decades of friendship, a life-size resin Normandy cow was presented to the Lower Franconia committee. "The gift was much appreciated and will be placed in the kindergarten. The Dozulé municipality donated a bronze bell made in Villedieu-les-Poêles. "It's so hard to say goodbye. The bonds of friendship that unite us are so important."

The English twinning association celebrated fifty-three years of friendship with a visit from the friends of Léonard-Stanley in July. The 2023 agenda also included traditional events such as the Forum des associations and the Christmas market, "with forty-two exhibitors this year".

A twinning project with the mountains

Two trips are planned for 2024. "To celebrate our 54th anniversary, our English friends are due to welcome us on the last weekend of July. But given the small number of English families, it's still uncertain."

On the German side, a visit by members of the Zell an Main committee is scheduled for October. As every year, the committee is expected to attend the Forum des associations. As for the Christmas market, it will take place on December 7.

The Dozulé committee is currently studying the possibility of "an exchange with a mountain village. This would enable children from Dozulé and surrounding villages to discover the mountains at a lower cost in summer". To be continued.
