The Fontaines public school organized its annual fair on Saturday June 29 in La Méaugon (Côtes-d'Armor). A festive occasion to take stock of the year.

Maxime Besnoux is principal of the Ecole Publique des Fontaines in La Méaugon (Côtes-d'Armor). The school held its annual fair on Saturday June 29. An opportunity to take stock of the past year and look ahead to the next.

What was the highlight of the year at your school?

All the classes worked on the theme of cooking and sustainable development, an original project to say the least, as part of the "Changeons d'ère" program. The commune had obtained funding to implement an action that was to have repercussions for the whole school. To this end, we welcomed Tiphaine Perron (Cuisine libre, innovante et collaborative) and Gaëlle Penault (Court-Bouillon). In kindergarten, the focus was on waste sorting.

Pupils in elementary classes worked on the theme of birds, under the guidance of a musical consultant from Saint-Brieuc Armor agglomération. The final objective was to create a show, followed by an end-of-year outing to Île-Grande. This theme was also chosen for our choir (pupils from CP to CM2), who performed at the school fair.

Are there any plans for the 2023-2024 period?

The highlight of this school year is the conversion of the former teacher's room into a classroom, which will welcome CM2 pupils at the start of the new school year.

What are the main changes in terms of pupil numbers?

New for 2024-2025, we'll be welcoming children in the very young section (TPS). Including these children, the total number of pupils in September will be 126. In addition, two new teachers will be joining us: Annaig Blanchard, who was previously based in Le Mené and will replace Anaïs Jupille (CE1 and CE2); and Élodie Drefer, who will succeed Mathilde Ripamonti, in the nursery class (petite and moyenne sections).

The year came to a close on Saturday with the school's annual dance and song show, put on by all the pupils in front of a packed audience of happy parents and family members.
