Congo/ Lékoumou department: free healthcare to relieve the sick
In the districts of Mayéyé and Sibiti, children, young and old benefited from free dental care by French dentists, members of the humanitarian association Dents-Terre, under the aegis of the Minister of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Humanitarian Action, Irène Marie-Cécile Mboukou-Kimbatsa.
"We carried out around four hundred consultations in the two districts," said Hervé Simondet, head of the Dents-Terre humanitarian association delegation. The beneficiaries praised the health operation, which brought them relief without spending any money.
For this first Dents-Terre humanitarian operation in the Congo, in addition to providing oral health care, the association's members raised awareness of dental hygiene among around a thousand pupils in the schools of Mayéyé and Sibiti. This awareness-raising campaign involved both theory and practice.
After this event, the Dents-Terre association and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Humanitarian Action plan to carry out similar missions in other departments of the country.
