Côte d'Ivoire/ 3rd edition of the Salon des collectivités territoriales in September dedicated to territorial governance

Danho Paulin, president of the Union des villes et communes de Côte d'Ivoire (UVICOCI), launched the 3rd edition of the Salon des collectivités territoriales (SACT) on Thursday June 06, 2024 at the Sofitel hôtel ivoire in Abidjan-Cocody, under the theme "Territorial governance: Lever of resilience and harmonious development of territories".

The event, which will take place from September 05 to 07 at the Port-Bouët Exhibition Centre, aims to create an inclusive forum for reflection, meetings and dialogue between stakeholders, partners, decision-makers and the general public on the challenges of decentralization and local development.

According to the show's general commissioner, Penda Dramera, the initiative aims to strengthen decentralization policy and improve the effectiveness of local development, while promoting more inclusive and sustainable governance of territories.

For Ms Dramera, in a context of permanent uncertainty and constant change, territorial governance has been identified as a key tool for the resilience and harmonious development of territories. Territories are privileged places for designing and implementing effective resilience strategies.

"We hope that this 3rd edition will make a positive contribution to the dialogue on the coherence and effectiveness of the governance framework and action of local authorities for the sustainable transformation of our territories", she declared.

Faced with the many health, security and environmental challenges facing Côte d'Ivoire, it is important to strengthen the capacity for action of local authorities, with a view to making them more effective.SACT's initiator noted that, in the face of the many health, security and environmental challenges facing Côte d'Ivoire, it is important to build the capacity of local authorities to act as effective players, working alongside the government to meet the challenges of sustainable local development.

UVICOCI President Danho Paulin, also representing the President of the Assembly of Regions and Districts of Côte d'Ivoire (ARDCI), emphasized the importance of innovation and imagination in providing relevant and efficient solutions to improve the quality of life of fellow citizens.

"It is in the territories that we must provide relevant answers for the quality of life of our fellow citizens", he asserted, insisting on the need for resilient and innovative territorial governance.

The show promises to be an essential platform for the exchange of ideas and the formulation of innovative solutions, with the aim of strengthening collaboration for the progress of local authorities in Côte d'Ivoire. Participants will have the opportunity to explore best practices and discuss strategies for effective territorial governance, geared towards sustainable and inclusive local development.

The program for this event, which will welcome delegations from several foreign countries, includes an inaugural conference, panels, workshops, B-to-B meetings and prize-giving ceremonies.

The theme of the 2nd edition was "Territorial development, public action and private solutions".
