The "A'SIMA Tunis" project aims to strengthen the urban and metropolitan sustainability of the City of Tunis through improved governance and the involvement of national and international partnerships.

The network of MedCities cities and the Municipality of Tunis organised this week in Tunis the launch of the project "A'SIMA Tunis: Strategic Planning and Multi-level Governance for a Resilient Metropolitan City" . The event notably marked the beginning of the process of elaborating the Strategy of the City of Tunis (SdVT), a strategic plan for the City of Tunis that will be aligned with the objectives of sustainable development by 2030.
The "A'SIMA Tunis" project aims to strengthen the urban and metropolitan sustainability of the City of Tunis through improved governance and the involvement of national and international partnerships. Financed by the European Union, this four-year project (2020-2024) will support the City of Tunis in defining a new horizon for the future. This requires the establishment of a Shared City Strategy for the future of Tunis that is defined by its citizens and for its citizens, in all their diversity, to face the metropolitan challenges of the Greater Tunis area. The SdVT covers aspects such as the environment, urban planning and sustainable mobility management, employment, economic growth, social cohesion, quality of life and the well-being of citizens.
Mrs Souad Abderahim, Mayor of Tunis, gave the starting signal for the elaboration of the Strategy of the City of Tunis to the institutional and technical actors at local, national and Mediterranean level. She intervened throughout the event to present the participative approach of strategic reflection of the territory which founds the SdVT.Our interlocutor put her finger on the willingness of the actors to start a concerted process to build a common vision of future for the city, in order to make Tunisia, the capital of Tunisia, a sustainable, inclusive and metropolitan city, contributing to the Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Objectives, by 2040.
The Strategy of the City of Tunis (SdVT) is based on a participatory diagnosis. It also aims to generate a vision of the city's future, shared by stakeholders and citizens, to define priorities and strategic objectives, and to define the city's future development. It is also a question of generating a vision of the city's future, shared by the stakeholders and citizens, of defining priorities and strategic objectives, of setting up a concerted and targeted Action Plan with the Sustainable Development Objectives and of ensuring the follow-up and monitoring of the implementation of the SdVT.
The Municipality of Tunis will be the main beneficiary of the project implementation.
