The second edition of the Training Program on Combating Violent Extremism, designed for civil servants of the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), kicked off on Wednesday in Tiflet, under the theme “Combating Violent Extremism: Strategies for Prevention, Building Resilience in Society, and Ensuring Security in Prisons.”
This program, launched by the DGAPR and the Moussalaha Center at the National Institute for the Training of Prison Administration and Reintegration Executives, aims to develop civil servants’ skills in detecting and identifying the various manifestations of violent extremism, by adopting best practices in the field, according to a press release from the Moussalaha Center.
It also aims to strengthen the resilience of prison staff by providing them with the tools and techniques necessary to prevent extremist ideology, while building their capacity in the areas of countering violent extremism and human rights.
Approximately 200 correctional officers from 12 correctional facilities will benefit from this program, which will be led by experts and professors specializing in the field. The program will consist of six sessions, with 33 participants per session, each lasting three days.
The implementation of this program is in line with the center’s strategic priorities, particularly the priority related to programs to combat violent extremism in prisons, the press release concludes.
