The new university campus in Taroudant, which is part of Ibn Zohr University, is a major academic and strategic project aimed at enriching the university’s offerings and expanding the range of educational opportunities available to students. This project, which is part of the ongoing momentum in the Kingdom’s higher education and scientific research sectors, also aims to meet the growing needs for training and human resources development.

The creation of this university hub is also part of ongoing efforts to expand the network of higher education institutions and diversify academic programs. This project is expected to improve access to higher education, bring educational institutions closer to students, and contribute to the creation of an academic environment conducive to research and innovation.

This project is of particular importance to the province of Taroudant, given its key role within the Souss-Massa region’s university system and the opportunities it offers to expand academic offerings and meet the aspirations of new generations of students. It should also help enhance the appeal of the city and the province as a hub for higher education and training.

The Taroudant University Campus comprises three faculties: the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and the Faculty of Economics and Management. This diversity of programs and courses allows students to specialize in various fields, in line with their interests and the needs of the job market.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a variety of programs in the fields of literature and the humanities, as well as in Islamic studies and law. It provides students with an academic education that combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills, both of which are essential for further studies and successful entry into the workforce.

For its part, the Faculty of Applied Sciences focuses on scientific, technical, and engineering programs, in step with advances in science and technology and the growing demand for qualified professionals in scientific, technical, and digital fields.

For its part, the Faculty of Economics and Management offers a diverse range of programs in management, digital marketing, international trade, and entrepreneurship. These fields are of paramount importance due to changes in the economic landscape and evolving practices in management, business, and marketing—particularly with the increased use of technologies and digital platforms across various sectors.

The creation of this faculty is part of Ibn Zohr University’s efforts to expand and diversify its educational programs, emphasized Tarik Chewiwi, Secretary General of the Faculty of Economics and Management in Taroudant, in a statement to MAP.

The programs offered by this institution aim to enable students to adapt to economic changes and the demands of the job market, he said, noting that these programs also enable students to acquire knowledge and skills that open up broader prospects for entering the workforce and pursuing further studies.

For his part, Abderrahmane Sadiq, associate dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Taroudant in charge of academic affairs, stated, in a similar statement, that the faculty had taken all necessary measures at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year to facilitate student orientation and enrollment and to strengthen academic support to help students choose the majors and programs best suited to their academic paths and aspirations.

The Taroudant university complex is expected to welcome more than 4,500 students this year, he said, noting that this number reflects the growing demand for higher education in the region.

The diversity of higher education institutions in Taroudant also reflects a commitment to offering a multidisciplinary academic program that meets students’ expectations and takes into account economic, social, and technological developments.

The university hub is part of Ibn Zohr University’s vision, which aims to develop its academic infrastructure, improve the quality of teaching and scientific research, and strengthen its presence in the various provinces of the Souss-Massa region, thereby consolidating its role in regional development.
