Canada/Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk: The First Nation Opens Its New Offices
The Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation inaugurated its new administrative building in Cacouna.
The offices were rebuilt following significant water damage in 2024. The Government of Quebec provided $2.4 million in funding. These new, much larger facilities will better meet the organization’s needs. The architecture also reflects various elements of the nation’s culture and history.
“The planning for all our projects will start here—the brainstorming, the planning, and the execution. Everything will be planned here, so it’s a gathering place for employees and political leaders. Of course, it’s also home to our members, and the location along the river is wonderful. We’re very pleased with the result,” said Jacques Tremblay, Grand Chief of the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation.
