France/A Quarter-Century of Exchanges for the Neuillé-Pont-Pierre Sister City Committee
For more than twenty-five years, the twinning committee has been fostering relations and exchanges between the Gâtine-Racan area and the Thuringia region in Germany.
Accompanied by President Laurent Brault, about fifteen residents of Tours made the trip in mid-June 2026 to meet with their German friends, with whom they had developed a close bond over the years. Over the course of four days, the carefully planned itinerary allowed them to explore Thuringia, with its mountainous regions and coniferous forests, as well as to visit several industrial facilities and artisanal workshops focused primarily on porcelain and glassmaking. On their day off, the host families took the visitors to see the cultural and tourist sites in the cities of Jena, Erfurt, and Ettau. In 2027, it will be the residents of Tours’ turn to host the group, continuing this now well-established tradition.
