How did you join the organization?

I ended up here by chance, thanks to my two sons, who went to Germany in 2010 with a group of gymnasts from the jugglers’ club. It was their enthusiasm that convinced me to join this organization, with which I share the same desire to strengthen and preserve the bonds that were forged before our time.

How is the association doing?

The association has 65 members. Eighteen of the 36 families live outside La Guerche. Moutiers, Drouges, La Selle-Guerchaise, and Bais are part of the twinning committee, which also contributes to its positive momentum. In 2025, eight young people joined us thanks to their families, who have been actively involved in the association. We’re fortunate that German is taught in middle school and that school trips are organized. In addition, we visit both middle schools in La Guerche to work with6th and7th graders studying German. This is an opportunity to introduce our association, inspire students to learn German, and—why not?—encourage them to join us for a trip to Brome. It’s also a way to recruit new families.

What’s the schedule for these five days?

On July 11, we’ll welcome our German guests at 2:30 p.m. at Place de Brome in the Town Hall garden. We’ll then share a barbecue picnic in the public park. On July 12, the schedule will be packed and varied, with a trip to the northern part of the department. Beach sailing in Cherrueix, a visit to the Moulin du Tertre in Mont-Dol, a tour of a fishery in the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, and a gourmet walking tour with the Maison du Terroir. On July 13, we’ll take them to visit the Moulin des Gués in Fontaine-Couverte. The day will end with a festive evening featuring a DJ. On July 14, we’ll invite them to sample the famous galette saucisse at the La Guerche market. The market will feature traditional music by Marion Guyot as part of the “Summer Tuesdays” series. They’ll end the day by attending the community dance and watching the fireworks. It will be a wonderful way to wrap up this week of reunions.
