In Sarh, a new human-powered pump improves access to drinking water for pupils at the girls' secondary school, transforming their learning conditions.

In Sarh, a significant breakthrough has just been achieved for pupils at the Lycée-Collège Féminine. Following the launch of work on April 27, 2026, the human-powered pump was officially handed over on May 1, 2026 by the Moyen-Chari Provincial Council. The aim is to facilitate access to drinking water and improve learning conditions for young girls.

The school, which has over 400 pupils, now has a functional water point. A significant change for these young girls who, for a long time, had to cope with a lack of water in their school.

The provincial delegate for national education, bilingualism and civic promotion in the Moyen-Chari region, Mme Djikoloum née Mogalbaye, welcomed the initiative. She emphasized that this action meets a real need, long expressed by pupils, who are forced to study without sufficient access to drinking water.

For her part, the lycée's principal, Mme Mbanakil Olga, expressed her satisfaction. She explained that this installation will considerably improve the students' daily lives, particularly for drinking and refreshing themselves after sports activities.

The President of the Provincial Council, Dieudonné Djonabaye, recalled that supporting education is one of his institution's priorities. According to him, it is essential to help these students who study in difficult conditions, especially in periods of high heat. "The installation of this pump marks an important milestone for the Sarh girls' high school. It contributes to providing a healthier and more suitable environment for learning, while meeting an essential need of the students", he concluded.
