Congo/West Cuvette: the ambulance at the Kellé CSI is rehabilitated
Anatole Mouandza, sub-prefect of the Kellé district in the Cuvette-Ouest department, has just handed over the ambulance for the local Centre de Santé Intégré (CSI) to its beneficiaries.
Gone are the hassles associated with evacuating patients from Kellé to Owando or Ewo, where they were required to pay up to 200,000 FCFA. " The ambulance is here, it has been well rehabilitated and belongs to all the inhabitants of the Kellé district. The ambulance is there to manage, carry out evacuations and emergencies. It's not the other way around", was how Anatole Mouandza presented the equipment to the staff of the Kellé CSI, in the presence of the district's local councillors and representatives of the police force.
To refurbish the vehicle, the sub-prefect of Kellé called on the ingenuity of the Valdi company. According to him, the first two companies chosen had been notoriously incompetent and fraudulent. It's my duty to thank the Valdi team wholeheartedly, " he says .r, because the results are satisfactory and the vehicle is in good condition, so you can use it now", he enthused.
The sub-prefect of Kellé also asked God to forgive "his persecutors" who manage their problems on social networks. According to him, at a time when he was fighting tooth and nail to finalize work on the vehicle, images were being circulated on social networks, criticizing him for having confiscated the vehicle. " But let them know that by doing this, they are holding back the development of this locality", lamented Anatole Mouandza.
The Kellé CSI, already experiencing difficulties with the supply of pharmaceutical products, has been without an ambulance for a long time. The district chief's gesture comes as a small relief to the population's suffering. " The ambulance is not there for public transport, but to help the population, for emergencies and for evacuation tasks...The sub-prefect is not the manager of the ambulance, which will be managed by hospital officials. I'm not a doctor, I'm not an assistant, I'm not hospital staff. After the official handover ceremony, you'll see that this vehicle will always be parked at the sub-prefect's residence for reasons of security and proper follow-up", he explained.
To keep the ambulance running, Anatole Mouanda asked the hospital staff to find a driver, whom he would then pay, while maintaining the vehicle.
An initiative positively appreciated by the beneficiaries. Bienvenu Ondoukou, departmental councillor for Cuvette-Ouest, elected in Kellé, had the right words to encourage the benefactor. " The ambulance intended for the hospital had broken down, but for financial reasons we couldn't fix it. Today, a Good Samaritan thought of rehabilitating it and came to hand it over to you. Everyone's happy, the ambulance is in good condition", he said.
Taking advantage of the occasion, Anatole Mouandza thanked the people of the Kellé district for having voted massively for the President of the Republic in the March election, with a 99.98% turnout.
