Togo/Port cooperation: Lomé and Pointe-Noire explore industrial synergies through PIA
In Togo, the Plateforme industrielle d'Adétikopé (PIA) is pursuing its strategy of regional openness. This week, the site welcomed a delegation from the Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, on a working visit focused on logistical and industrial synergies.
Led by Fortuné Mbouma-Peya, advisor to the Congolese port's General Manager, the delegation discussed with PIA officials the levers of cooperation between port hubs and industrial zones. Discussions focused on sharing best practices, optimizing supply chains and developing integrated logistics infrastructures.
The ultimate aim is to enhance the efficiency of regional corridors and improve the competitiveness of African hubs by international standards. These partnerships, which aim to support the creation of added value and industrialization, come at a time when the continent's economies are focusing on local processing.
For both parties, this cooperation opens up prospects in terms of exports, trade fluidity and industrial development, within a framework of South-South cooperation.
Backed by the Port Autonome de Lomé, the PIA aims to become a logistics and industrial hub in West Africa. The structure combines a dry port, processing facilities and a one-stop shop for administrative services. This integrated model is also attracting interest from other African ports, including Pointe-Noire, Central Africa's main deep-water port.
